This sea study has some great resources to get your family excited about exploring and learning all about water life in your Charlotte Mason homeschool. Take a peek into my homeschool by following my Instagram account.
One of my favorite read a loud about the sea is the Pagoo book by Holling Clancy Holling, which is a story about a hermit crab. This is a story that all of your children would love, especially those from preschool through higher elementary. Your middle school children can do a more in-depth study of a hermit crab, and perhaps create a nature study book about them.
I came across Willow By the Sea at a used book sale, and loved it. At the time, my three year old loved it to. It is a sweet introduction to the sea with beautiful, soft illustrations children will enjoy.
You can’t visit the sea without looking for sea shells. Having a great guide, like Seashells in My Pocket is a great way to fit in a nature study at the same time.
If you aren’t close to the beach, or not good at finding shells, you may consider purchasing a variety of seashells for a hands-on nature study, and journaling time at home. You can purchase starfish, and sand dollars.
